Bruce P. Apel

Apel

After a hard fight and courageous battle with multiple myeloma, Bruce P. Apel, 53, of McCandless Township passed away Wednesday.

Born May 29, 1958, he was the son of the late Carl and Josephine Apel.

Bruce was the beloved husband of Jacqueline E. (Thomas) Apel; the son-in-law of the late Charles and Elisa Thomas; the father of Samantha (Brian) Schilling of Ross Township and Joey (Jenita) Apel of Dayton, Ohio; the brother of Carl (Nancy) Apel of Franklin Park; the brother-in-law of Chuck (Marsha), Bob and Mike Thomas, all of Butler, and Mary Ann (Larry) Townsend of Sarver; the uncle of Brian Apel, Lisa, Chris, Jennifer, Mike and Stephanie Thomas and Melissa Teeters; and the special friend of Myron.

Bruce worked at Mine Safety Appliance for 26 years, most recently as a manager of product reliability. He was an avid Pittsburgh Penguins and Steelers fan.

<B>BRUCE P. APEL — </B>Friends of Bruce P. Apel, who passed away Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2011, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at <B>Simons Funeral Home</B>, 7720 Perry Highway, Pittsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the St. John Neumann Church, 2230 Rochester Road, Pittsburgh.Contributions may be made to the Mario Lemieux Foundation, 816 Fifth Ave., 6th Floor, Pittsburgh, PA 15219.
