Anna F. Ferrere
Anna F. Ferrere, 82, of Boyers Road, Forestville, passed into eternal life on Saturday in LifeCare Hospitals of Pittsburgh in Bellevue, surrounded by her family.
She was born on Jan. 27, 1929, in the Grove City Medical Center to Vincenzo James and Nunzia (Isacco) Chelli.
Anna was a graduate of the former Harrisville High School.
She married Regis R. Ferrere at the St. Anthony Catholic Church on Oct. 1, 1949. After celebrating 60 years of marriage, he preceded her in death on Oct. 3, 2009.
She was a devout Catholic and a lifetime member of the St. Anthony Catholic Church of Forestville, where she was also a charter member of the Confraternity of Christian Mothers. Throughout her life she devoted countless hours serving the church she loved. She had a special devotion to the Blessed Mother and prayed the Rosary daily.
Anna lived each day with unconditional love and devotion to her family. Anna loved to spend her time cooking and baking for her family. She also loved to can vegetables harvested from the family garden. She was a loyal fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers. She also enjoyed playing bingo.
Anna was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was lovingly called “MeMe” by her granddaughters. Her love will remain in the hearts of her family forever. She will be remembered for her humble and caring ways. She was always thinking of others before herself.
She is survived by seven children, Regis M. Ferrere of Forestville, Joyce A. Flinner and her husband, DuWayne, of Prospect, Karen M. Schmidt and her husband, David, of Spring, Texas, Paula K. Maloney and her husband, Roy, of Greenville, Ronald D. Ferrere of Butler, Rita L. Ferrere of Forestville and Diane C. Merkle and her husband, Gregory, of Grove City. She also is survived by four grandchildren, Kristen Kindya, Sara Merkle, Hannah Schmidt, and Gina Maloney.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, six brothers, and two sisters. She was the last survivor of nine children.
