8 apply for school seat
Eight persons have applied to Tom Doerr, Butler County president judge, for the open Butler school board seat. Doerr has appointed a committee to review the applications.
The names of the candidates were released in the order in which they were received, said Tom Holman, deputy court administrator. All the candidates live in the school district. They are Geoffrey Patterson, Helene Abramowitz, David Korn, William Walters, Scott Laconi, Scott Roskovski, Thomas Lavorini and Ben Holland.
Doerr also appointed three Butler School District residents to review the applications, but their names have not been released.
Holman said the committee will review the letters of application, create an objective system to evaluate the candidates and determine whether interviews will be held. In addition, they’ll make their recommendation to Doerr, although he will not be bound by it.
