Alice Josephine 'Bunny' Bunting Lough
Mrs. Alice Josephine “Bunny” Bunting Lough, 93, died Monday in Murray, Ky., after a full and happy life. A longtime resident of Elkton, Va., she moved to Murray in 2005 where her son and grandson live.
She was born in Robersonville, N.C., on Oct. 16, 1918, the second of three children of the late William Thomas and Myrtle Elizabeth Bullock Bunting. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Robersonville.
In 1941, she received her registered nurse certification and married Maurice White Lough of Rocky Mount, N.C. The couple moved to Elkton, Va., where they raised their family.
She taught at Elkton Elementary School for a few years and later became known for her sewing and tatting skills, for making sleeping bags for the homeless and for participating in the Valley Heritage Day demonstrations. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels.
She was a member of the Elkton United Methodist Church and of the Milnes Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, No. 3, of Shenandoah.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Maurice White Lough, and a brother, Melvin Linwood Bunting.
Surviving are a sister, Marjorie Bunting Roche of Robersonville, N.C.; a son, Maurice Thomas Lough (Posy) of Murray, Ky.; a daughter, Alice Sandra Lough Towberman (Rev. Dr. Alden) of Butler; two grandchildren, Kyser Thomas Lough (Amanda) of Murray, Ky., and the Rev. Tiffany Christine Towberman (Jim Gander) of Lansdowne, Va.; two great-grandchildren, Nolan Adam Gander and Grace Anne Gander; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
<B>LOUGH — </B>Visitation for Mrs. Alice Josephine “Bunny” Bunting Lough, who died on Monday, Jan. 9, 2012, will be at the Elkton United Methodist Church from noon to 1:30 p.m. Friday with a funeral service and celebration of her life at 2 p.m. Burial in Elk Run Cemetery will follow. <B>Kyger Funeral Home</B> is in charge of arrangements.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in her name to Butler Meals on Wheels, 218 E.
