Harry 'Butch' James Malone
Harry “Butch” James Malone, Sgt. U.S. Army, Retired, 63, of Cabot went to be with the Lord at 12:55 p.m. Wednesday.
Born Oct. 4, 1948, in Pittsburgh, he was a son of the late Harry Henderson Malone and Ann Emily (Smigelski) Malone.
He was a 1966 graduate of West Deer High School. He followed his heart to join the U.S. Army in January 1967. While serving in the U.S. Army, he rose to the rank of sergeant (E5). During his enlistment, he served for 13 months in Vietnam. He was a flight engineer on the Skycrane (Sikorsky CH-54 Tarhe) Helicopter.
He attended Butler County Community College and previously owned Harry J. Malone Construction.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and being a wonderful “Poppy” to his granddaughters, Aliviah and Lilah. His interests were gardening, cars, fishing, rock collecting and construction. He loved reading his Bible and was deeply devoted to his faith.
He is survived by his loving wife, Darla (Poston) Malone, who he married June 25, 1977; his little girls, Shannon (Jeremy) Malone Treich and Ashley (Jonathan Lawson) Malone; and two granddaughters, Aliviah and Lilah Treich; all of Cabot. He also is survived by his siblings, Valerie (Robert) Sands of Butler, Carole Zwigart of Mars, Sandra (Don) Leslie of North Carolina, Joseph (Trish) Malone of Gibsonia, Nick Malone of Gibsonia, Patty Szoss of Russellton, and Michael Malone of Indianola; and 13 nephews and nine nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his father and mother-in-law, Robert Edward Poston Sr. and Luella Marie Poston; a sister-in-law, Donna Marie Smith; a brother-in-law, Edward Zwigart; his grandparents; uncles; and aunts.
<B>MALONE</B> — Friends of Harry “Butch” James Malone, who passed away Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2012, will be received from 1 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, at the <B>Fox Funeral Home</B>, 410 W. Main St., Saxonburg. Additional visitation will be from noon until the time of the service at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.Burial with military honors will take place at Mt.
