Humes A. Grossman Sr.

Humes A. Grossman Sr., 82, of West Mercer Street, Harrisville, died at 2:53 p.m. Tuesday at VNA Inpatient Hospice, Butler.

He was born on July 23, 1929, in Cherry Township, Butler County, to John H. Grossman Sr. and Mary Hockenberry Grossman.

He was an elevator mechanic, working out of local union 45 of Youngstown, Ohio. He retired in 1986 after 33 years.

He was a hunter and fisherman, enjoyed yard sales and enjoyed tinkering with small gas engines and selling them. He also had woodworking as a hobby.

He was married on Nov. 18, 1949, in Harrisville to A. Isabelle (Bell) Grossman.

He is survived by his wife, Isabelle Grossman in Harrisville; one daughter, Lisa E. Weaver and her husband, Boe, of Stoneboro, Pa.; four sons, Humes A. Grossman Jr. of Ruston, La., Richard C. Grossman and his wife, Sandra, of Harrisville, Timothy L. Grossman and his wife, Carla, of Waynesburg, Ohio, and Brian K. Grossman and his wife, Kim, of Harrisville; 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Edward Grossman and his wife, Linda, of Boyers and Robert Grossman and his wife, Barb, of Slippery Rock.

He was preceded in death by his parents, twin sons, one sister, and five brothers.

<B>GROSSMAN</B> — Visitation for Humes A. Grossman Sr., who died Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2012, will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday in the Barkeyville United Methodist Church, Barkeyville. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church with Pastor Mary Ann McConnell, the pastor of the church, officiating.
