Myers

Cory E. Myers, 56, of Butler passed away Wednesday afternoon at the VNA Hospice after a very courageous battle with cancer.

He was born Aug. 2, 1955, in Butler, the loving son of Audrey Lokhaiser Myers and Bernard Myers.

Upon graduating from Butler High School in 1973, Cory served six years in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. John F. Kennedy stationed in Virginia Beach.

He was employed for 30 years at International Staple and most recently at Conley Resort Inn as well as Butler Home Depot.

Cory enjoyed spending time outdoors and loved the many trips to camp with his brother, children, nieces, nephews, uncles and dear friends.

He also looked forward to visiting his sister and her family at the beach during the summer.

Cory was very proud of his children and liked attending their school activities over the years. He enjoyed many summer nights attending Lindsay and Laura's softball games and weekends at tournaments. He loved attending soccer games, swimming meets and volleyball games and tournaments to watch Travis.

During his illness, his granddaughter, Charlotte, could always get a smile out of him and brighten his day.

In addition to his parents, Cory is survived by Cindy (Beck) Myers; two daughters, Lindsay and Laura; one son, Travis; his granddaughter, Charlotte Grace; one brother, Kirk (Cis) Myers of Butler; one sister, RaeAnn (Ed) Hoelzer of Nags Head, N.C.; his nephews, Brent Hoelzer of Nags Head and Evan (Michelle) Hoelzer of Butler; his nieces, Jennifer (Travis) Bender and Beth (Jamie) McSwaney, both of Butler, Nichole (Mike) Carey of Charleston, S.C., and their children; cousin, Lisa (Lokhaiser) Casey and her daughters, Erin (Jeremy) Neff and Samantha Casey; his uncles, Philip “Dewey” (Betty) Lokhaiser and Bill (Bev) Lokhaiser; and cousins, Tammy (Matt) and Melinda and their families.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Gust and Sophia Lokhaiser; his uncle, Gust Lokhaiser; and his good friend, Tom Casey.

Cory will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

<B>MYERS</B> — Friends of Cory E. Myers, who passed away Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012, will be received at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be published on Friday.In lieu of flowers, donations to his family to help with medical expenses would be appreciated.Information also is available at www.geibelfuneralhome.com.
