Herman W. Rieck
Herman W. Rieck, 90, of Middlesex Township died Friday evening at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born in Adams Township on March 24, 1921, he was the son of the late William and Louise Ohage Rieck.
Herman retired after 42 years as a steelworker with Allegheny Ludlum in Brackenridge. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Mars.
He was a sergeant with the 9th Army Air Force during World War II. He was a member of the Mars American Legion Post 273 and the Mars VFW Post 7505.
He was a member of the John E. Mair Lodge 729 F&AM, the Scottish Rite 32nd Degree, the Commandry, Shrine 14th Caravan, Lorraine Commandry of Butler, Syria Temple, Tall Cedars of Lebanon Baker Trail, Royal Arch Masons 273, and Butler Council 61. He was a life member of Teutonia Menenchor.
Surviving are two daughters, Karen Boocks and her husband, Daryl, of McMurray, Pa., and Jeanne Brady and her husband, James, of Cochranton, Pa.; two sons, Richard “Butch” Rieck and his wife, JoAnn, of Dellroy, Ohio, and Edward Rieck and his wife, Linda, of Butler; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his wife, Violet Flaig Rieck, who he married June 15, 1946, and who died Jan. 2, 2005; one sister, Florence Rieck; and one brother, John Rieck.
<B>RIECK</B> — Friends of Herman W. Rieck, who died Friday, Feb. 3, 2012, will be received at the <B>McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home</B>, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Nick Protos, pastor of the Gospel Fellowship PCA, officiating.
