Easy being green Art show winners listed
The Associated Artists of Butler County has announced the winners of the “Make It Green” exhibit.
Liz Carpenter of Mars won best of show for her 3-D sculpture “Cardboard Melody.”
Ben Hughes of Punxsutawney took first place in the painting category for his work “Subfloor Goddess” made of recycled materials.
Colleen Ramsay-Hoesch of Wexford won first place in photography for her landscape photograph called “Very Nearest Room.”
In the mixed media category, Heidi McClure of Creekside, Indiana County, garnered first place for her piece, “In My Woods.”
Eric Charlton took first place in the 3-D sculpture category for “Preservation,” which incorporated a tree log.
The judge was Doug Wynn, an art instructor at Butler County Community College.
The “Green” exhibit is open through March 23 at The Art Center, 344 S. Main St.
Gallery hours are noon to 6 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays, noon to 9 p.m. Fridays, and noon to 6 p.m. Saturdays. Admission is free.
Upcoming events include spring art classes, the opening of the annual Butler County high school show on March 30, and the annual spring show and sale starting on May 5.
In the Underground Gallery, the “Human Form Show” continues through March 23.
