Edward J. Welter
Edward J. Welter, 53, of Chicora was called to his eternal home Thursday, at Butler Memorial Hospital surrounded by family members and friends.
He was born Feb. 10, 1959, in Butler, the fourth of seven children, to Mr. William P. Welter Jr. and Ethelreda Widenhofer Welter.
He was employed by AK Steel since March of 1994. His current position was clerk of the electrical construction office.
He was a member of the St. Wendelin Church, Carbon Center. His love of God and family was the greatest part of his life. His health struggles were numerous but he leaned on the Lord for his strength and courage daily.
Ed enjoyed his family time, beach trips and the Florida sunshine when visiting his cousins and parents. He had a gentle love of animals and nature. He will be missed by many who knew and loved him. “The Master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your Master's happiness!'” Matthew 25:21
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Tammy Spinneweber Welter, who he married Sept. 10, 1982. They have been richly blessed with four children, Jeremy J. Welter of Butler, Nicholas and Kate Welter, Erin and Patrick Bayer, and Emily S. Welter, all of Chicora; and a cherished grandson, Ian Patrick Bayer, for the past 17 months. He is also survived by three brothers and three sisters, William P. III and Marlene Welter, Timothy A. and Lori Welter, Terry E. and Michelle Welter, all of Butler, Elan Welter Lewis, Margaret A. and James Lamison of Fenelton and Shirley A. and William Simpson of Chicora.
He was loved by his wife's parents, George and Alice Spinneweber; along with her brothers and sisters, Lori and Roger Kennedy, Michael and Tracy Spinneweber, Dave and Leslie Spinneweber, all of Butler, Wayne and Tammy Spinneweber of Zelienople and Jodi Wheeler and her boyfriend, Bob Earnst, of Butler. He was visited frequently by a large number of nieces and nephews who enjoyed the stories of his life's ventures and his love of animals. He is survived by many aunts and uncles both locally and in Florida.
<B>WELTER</B> — Friends of Edward J. Welter, who was called to his eternal home Thursday, Feb. 16, 2012, will be received at <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Wendelin Roman Catholic Church, Carbon Center, 210 St. Wendelin Road, Butler. The pastor, the Rev. Steven V.
