Body found in pond
NORTH BUFFALO TWP, Armstrong County — The body of an Armstrong County man — missing for nearly a week — was found Thursday in a pond at his home on Cadogan Slate Lick Road, authorities said.
An autopsy ruled Thomas Lee Quetot, 58, died of drowning, said Armstrong County Deputy Coroner Bernie Bowser.
The manner of death is still pending the state police investigation. Police investigators were unavailable for comment this morning.
No foul play is suspected in the death, however, said Armstrong County Deputy Coroner Brian Myers.
“What the investigation is trying to determine is if it was accidental or suicide,” Myers said.
Police only Thursday issued a news release seeking information from the public about Quetot’s whereabouts.
He was last seen March 16 at the home he lived at, according to police. Authorities said the owners of the house took in Quetot as a boarder some time ago.
It was not immediately known if he was employed or if he had any family in the area.
Investigators searching for Quetot decided to check the pond on the property. Ford City Hose Company No. 1 and West Kittanning Rescue assisted in the search.
Ford City Hose Chief Scott Gaiser said the pond varies from two and half feet to four feet deep. Quetot’s body was found in the pond’s shallower waters.
He was wearing the same clothing that he reportedly had on when last seen, Gaiser said.
