Louis J. Carson, 79, of Fenelton died at 11:20 p.m. Monday following a brief illness.

Born in Fenelton, Oct. 3, 1932, he was the son of the late James Louis Carson and Virginia Violet Kemp Carson.

On Feb. 14, 1953, he married Avanel Hockenberry Carson, who died Nov. 13, 2004.

He lived in Fenelton all of his life. He retired from the Penn Dixie Cement Co., West Winfield, after 44 years of service.

A veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War, he proudly served our country from Feb. 24, 1953, to Feb. 10, 1955, achieving the rank of private first class.

He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Chicora, a lifetime member of the Chicora VFW, a lifetime member of the East Butler Fire Department and a lifetime member of the Happy Hunters Sportsman Club of Fenelton.

He is survived by his daughter, Lois and Bud Hamilton of Fenelton; his grandsons, Brian and Dana Hamilton of Karns City and Brad and Lisa Hamilton of Fenelton; his great-grandchildren, Kayla Hamilton, Miranda Hamilton, Paichance Hamilton and Braden Hamilton; his brothers, David E. Carson Sr. of Butler, Leroy E. and Lucille Carson of Butler and Douglas B. and Judy Carson of Chicora; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his twin brothers, William and Robert Carson; an infant brother, Regis; and his sisters, Dolores Mennor, Maxine Patton and Diane Carson.

CARSON — Friends of Louis J. Carson, who died Monday, Feb. 20, 2012, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME, 111 E. Slippery Rock and Main streets, Chicora. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Sheila Auer, pastor of the Fenelton United Methodist Church, officiating.Full military honors will be given by the Chicora VFW, the Chicora American Legion and the 316th Readiness Command of Pittsburgh.For information and directions and to extend condolences to Lou’s family, go to www.steighnerfuneralhome.com.
