Edna Pearl Smith
Edna Pearl Smith, 97, formerly of Harrisville, died at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at Home2Me in Slippery Rock.
She was born March 23, 1914, in Harrisville to Robert Wilson McConnell and Annie Eakin.
In July 1933, she married Ford Nevin Smith, who preceded her in death Nov. 7, 1985.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with family and friends and taking care of her home. She was a member of the Harmony United Presbyterian Church in Harrisville. She became a member of the Harmony Presbyterian Church in 1926 and had the longest term of membership at the church. She taught Sunday school, sang in the choir and was active in the Grace Braham Missionary Circle.
She is survived by one daughter, Donna L. Hogg of Slippery Rock; one son, C. LeRoy Smith of Grove City; five grandchildren, Denny E. (Kathy) Hogg, Douglas C. (Karen) Hogg, Debra L. (Mark) Dickey, Kimberly A. (Don) Albert and Linda R. (Brian) Hogue; nine great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Charles Elmer McConnell and James Francis McConnell; and a sister, Helen Grace Cokain.
SMITH — Visitation for Edna Pearl Smith, who died Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2012, will be at the
Smith Funeral Home, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday.Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with the Rev. Jeffery Jones, pastor of the Harmony United Presbyterian Church, officiating.The burial will be in Prairie Cemetery, Harrisville.
