Dorothy M. Reid, 88, of Avalon Springs Nursing Center, Coolspring Township, Mercer County, formerly of 6 Penn Ave., Green-ville, passed away on Friday at the nursing home.

She was born in New Castle on Feb. 20, 1924, to the late Charles and Florence (Wick) Bennett.

She worked at the former the Maulvey Printing Co. in Greenville, Mine Safety in Zelienople, where she made gas masks during World War II, was a waitress at the former Thompsons' Restaurant in Harmony and was a baby sitter for many years.

She was a member of the Greenville Moose Family Center.

She enjoyed crocheting, playing bingo and cooking.

She was married to Robert Nickle, who survives in Butler. She subsequently married Allen Reid, who preceded her in death.

Also surviving are two daughters, Shirley McGranahan and her husband, David, of Greenville and Sandra McElroy and her husband, Dale, of Orange, Texas; two sons, John Nickle and his wife, Betty, of Greenville and Alexander “Butch” Reid of Mercer; three brothers, Ralph Bennett and his wife, Mary Lou, of Evans City, Dean Bennett of Evans City and Tom Bennett of Portersville; one sister, Carol Shoop and her husband, Lawrence, of Zelienople; 11 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and second husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Eugene Bennett, Ray Bennett and Clyde Bennett.

<B>REID</B> — Friends of Dorothy M. Reid, who died Friday, Feb. 24, 2012, may call on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the <B>Osborne-Williams Funeral Home and Cremation Services</B>, 73-75 Columbia Ave., Greenville.Services will be at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Marty Adams, pastor of Lifeway Church of the Nazarene in Greenville, officiating. Burial with committal service will follow the service at Stevenson Cemetery in Greenville.Memorial contributions can be made to Women of the Moose, 32 Shenango St., Greenville, PA 16125 or the American Cancer Society 3208 B.
