STATE COLLEGE — Michael Sybert of Middlesex Township, senior captain of the Penn State University taekwondo team, won the black belt heavyweight sparring event at the recent National Capital Open.

The event was hosted by Grandmaster H.K. Lee, outside of Washington, D.C. Sybert is a 2008 graduate of Mars High School.

The Penn State team captured three firsts in sparring, three seconds and three thirds.
