Lonny Paul Cumberland
Lonny Paul Cumberland, 71, of Butler went home to be with the Lord at 6 a.m. Wednesday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.
He was born May 13, 1940, in Butler to the late Harry Cumberland and Frances Wall Cumberland.
Lonny was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving on the USS Franklin Delano Roosevelt Aircraft Carrier during peacetime.
He worked as an electrician out of the I.B.E.W. Local Union 10, where he also served as a past president. Lonny was a member of First Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Berean Sunday School class, formerly served on the deacon and trustee boards, taught Sunday School and was a past youth group leader.
He loved to hunt and fish and spent many years volunteering his time at Slippery Rock Baptist Camp. Lonny enjoyed camping and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He will best be remembered for his willingness to help others.
Mr. Cumberland is survived by his wife, Sue Cumberland, who he married Sept. 20, 1958; one daughter, Diana Imler and her husband, Keith, of Butler; two sons, Brian Cumberland and his wife, Evelyn, of Broken Arrow, Okla., and Michael Cumberland and his wife, Margie, of Butler; seven grandchildren, Olivia Cumberland, Scott Cumberland, Thomas Cumberland and his wife, Melanie, Jared Cumberland and Steven, Natalie and Julie Imler; two brothers, Ted Cumberland of Bradenton, Fla., and Tom Cumberland and his wife, Jenny Lee, of West Chicago, Ill.; one sister, Phyllis Weigle and her husband Art, of Cabot; and a number of nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Lillian Dickey; two brothers, Vernon and David Cumberland; an infant brother, Victor Cumberland; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Paul and Ellen Lontz.
<B>CUMBERLAND </B>— Friends of Lonny Paul Cumberland, who went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 7, 2012, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at <B>Thompson-Miller Funeral Home</B>, 124 E. North St., Butler.Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church, 221 W.
