George Hodak
George Hodak, 90, of Butler died Friday evening at the V.N.A. Inpatient Hospice.
Born Sept. 10, 1921, in Rimerton, Pa., he was a son of the late Evan and Margaret (McCall) Hodak.
He had worked as a barber at the Butler VA Hospital for 36 years and also at the Pullman Standard Car Co., in their erection department also in construction, and then finally as a security guard for Pullman and also Trinity Industries.
He was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Butler, the American Legion Post 177 in Butler, the American Legion Post 778 in Lyndora, the VFW Post 249 in Butler, the Slovak Club in Lyndora and the Butler Moose Lodge 64, and he was a founding member of the Buffalo Valley Sportsmen Club, as he had enjoyed hunting and fishing.
George had been a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps, where he had gone to diesel mechanic school, and then was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy M. (Crawford) Hodak, who he married Jan. 12, 1951; four sons, Dennis (Judy) Hodak, Charles (Susan) Hodak, John (Karen) Hodak and Robert Hodak, all of Butler; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and one sister, Josephine Vokel of Worthington.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
<B>HODAK</B> — Friends of George Hodak, who died Friday, March 9, 2012, will be received at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. The Rev. Ginger DiTullio will officiate.Following cremation, inurnment with military honors will take place in Lawn Haven Cemetery, Worthington.
