James H. Kennedy

The Rev. James Herbert Kennedy, 77, passed away on Jan. 31 at J.F. Keever Solace Center in Asheville, N.C.

He was born in Slippery Rock to James A. and Mildred Fleming Kennedy. He graduated from Slippery Rock High School, Warren Wilson Jr. College in Swannanoa, N.C., and Maryville College in Maryville, Tenn. He also graduated from Louisville Presbyterian Seminary, Louisville, Ky., and Union Seminary in New York City.

He was an ordained Presbyterian minister and served churches in Cedar Hill, Mo., New York City and Marquette, Fenton, and Flint, Mich. His most recent pastorate was Marathon Key, Fla.

The Rev. Kennedy is survived by a sister, Dr. Ann Kennedy Wadstrom of Los Alamos, N.M., and 15 nieces and nephews.

<B>KENNEDY</B> — A memorial service for the Rev. James Herbert Kennedy, who passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2012, will be held at Center Presbyterian Church, 211 Center St., Slippery Rock, on at 4 p.m. March 17 with the Rev. William Mumaw, pastor of the church, presiding.
