Man charged with 2 counts of retail theft
CLAY TWP — An Oil City man was charged last week after he allegedly stole from Playthings, Etc. on two separate occasions.
According to state police, Jamie W. Sprague, 32, removed from its packaging and pocketed a Beadlock Axle Monster Truck, valued at $31, at the store on April 4.
That incident was captured on surveillance video and resulted in a charge of retail theft.
On April 24, Sprague allegedly stole from Playthings, Etc. a Proline Mambo Wheels, valued at $25, by removing it from the packaging, pretending it was his and asking employees if they had a similar item.
The employees, recognizing Sprague from the earlier incident, recorded his license plate.
The second incident, which resulted in another charge of retail theft and a charge of driving with a suspended license, also was caught on camera.
Police said Sprague has three previous arrests for retail theft in New Jersey.
