Butler school budget reviewed tonight
BUTLER TWP — The Butler School Board will have a 2012-13 budget meeting at 5:30 p.m. today in the lower board room of the Harriger Educational Services Center on Campus Lane.
The board is expected to review the first draft of the $93.7 million preliminary budget, which is scheduled to be adopted May 21.
In April the school district had a projected $6.3 million deficit. Administrators hoped that retirement notifications due May 1 would help to cut staff and to help balance the budget.
Other board meetings where the budget will be discussed include one at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday in the lower board room and one at 5:30 p.m. May 14 at the Intermediate High School, Room 114.
The state requires school districts to have 2012-13 budgets finalized by June 30.
This year’s budget is $90.4 million.
