Charles R. 'Bob' Morrison
Charles R. “Bob” Morrison, 82, of Berkeley Square Retirement Village, Hamilton, Ohio, since 1997, passed away Tuesday.
He was born in Butler, on Dec. 15, 1929, the son of Charles Richey Morrison, a pharmacist, and Mildred McFadden Morrison, a school teacher.
Bob graduated in 1947 from Butler High School and continued his education at Grove City College, where he received his bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering in 1951.
On May 7, 1954, Bob married Alice A. Anderson in Kane. In May 1979, they celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary and welcomed their first grandchild. Bob and Alice lived for 34 years in Newark, Ohio, where they were members of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Bob was a chemical engineer for Callery Chemical Co. in Pennsylvania from 1951 to 1955 and then again in Muskogee, Okla., from 1957 to 1962.
Bob was drafted by the U.S. Army in 1955 and served two years at the Red Stone Arsenal in Huntsville, Ala. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves, where he was honorably discharged in 1961.
He was employed by Owens Corning Fiberglas in Granville, Ohio, from 1963 to 1986, when he was forced to take an early retirement, after which he did some consulting teaching at Central Ohio Technical College.
Bob attended Bethel Community Church in Hamilton and was a member of the Kiwanis in Lindenwald. He tutored at Wilson Junior High and taught Bible studies at various Hamilton nursing homes. He enjoyed painting, gardening, boating, camping, photography and Bible study.
Bob is survived by his daughters, Debra (William) Rau of Cumming, Ga., and Cheryl (David) Adam of Cincinnati; grandchildren, Jennifer, Emily, Valerie, Nathan, Lindsay, Lauren and Jonathan; nine great-grandchildren; and his only brother, David L. (Carole) Morrison of Cary, N.C., and their families.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife of more than 56 years, Alice, and his parents.
