Joseph H. McCall
Joseph H. “Joe” McCall, 79, of Perry Township, Parker, passed away Thursday afternoon of natural causes en route to his home following discharge from UPMC-Seneca.
Born in Perry Township, Clarion County, on Feb. 15, 1933, he was the son of the late Byron F. and Mary K. Heeter McCall.
Joe was a 1951 graduate of the former Parker High School, and he served with the U.S. Navy from 1952 through 1956. He was an aviation mechanic in the service.
He was employed for more than 30 years with the former C&K Coal Co. of Clarion County, with his last position being supervisor of tipple operations. He then served more than 12 years as township supervisor with Perry Township, Clarion County.
Joe was a member of the Parker City-Allegheny Valley Lodge F&AM 521 of Parker, the New Castle Consistory, and the ZemZem Shrine of Erie.
He was a life member of the ACV Sportsmen Club of Perry Township and the Northern Butler Hunting and Fishing Club. Joe was an avid trap shooter, hunter and an avid sports fan of his grandchildren.
He served many years as scoutmaster with the Boy Scout troop in West Freedom.
He was a member of the Parker United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Earla Myers McCall; two daughters and their husbands, Carla (Matthew) Manculich of Parker and Coleen (Alan) Matthews of Erie; five grandchildren, Alicia, Tonya and Adam Matthews, and Ashley and Joseph Manculich; one great-grandchild, Jonathan Jaime Jr.; one stepdaughter, Lisa Reay of DuBois; two sisters, Theda “Snooks” McMahon of the Clearview Home in Sligo and Judie (Ron) Botz of Parker; one brother, Gerald “Jerry” (Joanie) McCall of Knox; and many nieces and nephews, including special nephew and hunting companion, Gregg Dietz of North Carolina.
In addition to parents, Joe was preceded in death by first wife, Rita Stewart McCall, who passed away June 24, 1986; one son, Joseph Todd McCall, who passed Sept. 2, 1992; two sisters, Betty Dietz and Norma “Tiny” Kriebel; and two brothers, “Dick” and Dean McCall.
