Paige Davis, host of the former “Trading Spaces” series, performs at the Strand Theater May 18 and 19.
Former 'Trading Spaces' host leads series finale

ZELIENOPLE — Paige Davis, longtime host of “Trading Spaces,” will headline the final performance of the Strand Theater’s 2012 Broadway Concert Series.

The concert will showcase the music and lyrics of John Kander and Fred Ebb, whose credits include “Cabaret” and “Chicago.”

This is the finale of the Strand’s third season of Broadway concerts in which a Broadway or national touring headliner performs alongside a local professional cast to celebrate the music of beloved Broadway composers.

While best known as the energetic host of the long-running TLC home improvement series, Davis also has an extensive resume of musical theater credits and is very familiar with Kander and Ebb’s work: She starred as Roxie Hart in a Broadway revival of “Chicago.”

She has toured the nation in the title role of “Sweet Charity,” as Babette in the first national tour of “Beauty and the Beast,” and local fans may remember her as Maria in Pittsburgh CLO’s production of “The Sound of Music” recently.

Performing alongside Davis will be Strand stars Dave Toole, Kate Queen, Mary Ann Mangini and Jeremy Czarniak. They will all be accompanied by The Strand Theater Ensemble, conducted by musical director, David Bruce Smith.

Showtimes are 8 p.m. May 18 and 19 at the Strand, 119 N. Main St.

Reserved seating ranges from $25 to $35. Call 724-742-0400 or visit www.thestrandtheater.org.
