John W. Schafer

John W. Schafer, 59, of Cabot passed away Friday at his home.

He was born Dec. 18, 1952, in Pittsburgh, the son of Ada Elizabeth (Jones) Schafer of Braddock and the late Frederick E. Schafer.

John was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a lifetime member of the NRA. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, sailing and skiing. He was a bridge inspector for Construction Consultant Services, Inc.

Surviving along with his mother are his wife, Betsy J. Hayden, who he married June 1, 1990; three sisters, Jean Burkhalter of Opelika, Ala., Betsie Murphy of Sackets Harbor, N.Y., and Ann Wilson of American Corner, Md.; three brothers, Martin Schafer of Los Banos, Calif., Jim Schafer of Forest Hills and Fred Schafer of Redding, Calif.

<B>SCHAFER</B> — A memorial service celebrating the life of John W. Schafer, who passed away Friday, April 6, 2012, will be Thursday at <B>Young Funeral Home</B>, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler.
