SAN FRANCISCO — The Golden State Warriors, NBA Commissioner David Stern and San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee officially announced Tuesday that the Bay Area's only NBA team will try to move back to scenic San Francisco. The earliest the team could leave Oakland would be 2017, when it can escape its lease at Oracle Arena.

The Warriors unveiled some of the plans for the estimated $500 million, privately funded arena on a sun-soaked day at Piers 30-32.

CINCINNATI — The college student who got national attention for catching two home run balls is back in the spotlight at Great American Ball Park.The Cincinnati Reds made 20-year-old Caleb Lloyd an honorary captain on Tuesday for the second game of their series against the Atlanta Braves. He and coach Billy Hatcher took out the lineup card.The videoboard identified him as a “Professional Home Run Ball Catcher.”

NEW YORK — The New York Knicks and coach Mike Woodson are completing a multiyear deal that could be announced this week, a person with knowledge of the situation said Tuesday.

BRUSSELS — Kim Clijsters says this year's U.S. Open will be her last tournament before retiring.The former No. 1 had already announced that this would be her final season and said Tuesday that she expects to quit after Flushing Meadows, where she is a three-time champion.

SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University senior outfielder Carter Haponski and sophomore right-handed pitcher Lou Trivino have received All-Atlantic Region honors this season.Haponski has been named first team Rawlings/ABCA Golden Glove team and is now eligible for national honors. Trivino was named first team all-region as a starting pitcher.Trivino was 8-3 and led the PSAC with a 1.78 earned run average this season.

SLIPPERY ROCK — Renovations began this month for installation of a new field turf at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium on the campus of Slippery Rock University.Completion date is set for mid June. The new surface is expected to be more grass-like.The coloring in the end zones will be different, as well.Mihalik-Thompson Stadium hosts all home SRU football, field hockey and lacrosse games, along with multiple men's and women's soccer games.
