Manerino

Dr. Albert “Al” Manerino, 86, of Mars died Friday afternoon at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Born in Evans City, on Oct. 27, 1925, he was the son of the late Pasquale “Patsy” and Theresa Chipatta Manerino.

Dr. Manerino had been the superintendent of Mars School District for 15 years and of Southside Beaver School District in Hookstown for 6 years.

A graduate of Evans City High School, he received his doctorate in education from the Univerity of Pittsburgh.

Active in the community, Al was a charter member and past president of Rich-Mar Rotary Club, where he was a Paul Harris Fellow. He had served on the Adams Township Planning Commission and was a member of the Evans City Lions Club.

He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Mars and was a former member of Butler Country Club. He enjoyed golf, swimming, tennis and all sports.

Surviving are his wife, Audrey Evans Manerino; two sisters-in-law, Thelma Elizabeth Sherrett (Col. Roy) of Pine Township, and Janet Leach (Bill) in Utah, and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his half-sister, Mary Muto, a half-brother, Pete Muto, and a sister-in-law, Doris Steytler.

MANERINO — Friends of Dr. Albert “Al” Manerino, who died Friday, May 18, 2012, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at MCDONALD-AEBERLI FUNERAL HOME, 238 Crowe Ave. Mars. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. John Lutheran Church, 420 Beaver St. Mars, with the Rev. Mark Bringman, pastor, officiating. Please meet at the church.
