A free Outdoor Discovery series, hosted by Butler County Parks and Recreation Department, takes place Thursday nights at Alameda Park, off New Castle Road. Amateur Astronomers Association of Pittsburgh celebrate Wagman Observatory’s 25th anniversary with public star parties Friday and Saturday. Prizes, including one beginner’s telescope, will be given out each evening. Activities will begin, weather permitting, just before dark, at about 8:55 p.m. The observatory is in Deer Lakes Regional Park near the village of Russellton in Frazer Township, Allegheny County.
