Lillian Dittmer Rodgers, 87, of Littlestown, Pa., entered into God's eternal care Saturday at her home.

Born Jan. 25, 1925, in New Kensington, she was the daughter of the late Wilbert H. Sr. and Jane (Smith) Dittmer.

Lillian was the loving wife of the late Harold R. Rodgers, who died Nov. 20, 2006.

Lillian graduated with a bachelor's in education from Lamar University and received her master's in education from the University of Maryland. She taught at Taneytown High School for many years and later was a supervisor of English and foreign language for the Carroll County School System until her retirement.

In her spare time, Lillian enjoyed gardening and cooking.

Lillian is survived by two children, Robert B. Rodgers of Rockville, Md., and Jeane R. New of Florence, S.C.; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Wilbert H. Dittmer Jr.

RODGERS — Lillian Dittmer Rodgers passed away Saturday, May 19, 2012. A funeral service to celebrate and remember Lillian’s life will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, 269 Frederick St., Hanover, Pa. The burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Hanover, Pa. A viewing and time to share memories with the family will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Lillian may be made to the charity of your choice.Memories and condolences may be shared at www.kenworthyfh.com.
