Dorothy P. Bowers
Dorothy P. Bowers, 83, of Knox died Thursday at the home of her son, Theodore Adams, after a lingering illness.
Born Aug. 13, 1928, in Bradys Bend, she was the last surviving child of Samuel and Marietta (Hicks) Crawford.
Dorothy loved working outdoors in her flower and vegetable garden. In addition to caring for her large family, she cared for elderly people in need. She enjoyed the fellowship of her friends at bingo and spending time with her family.
She was baptized and anointed into the family of God at the St. Mark’s United Church of Christ, Monroe.
Dorothy is survived by four daughters, Carol Anthony and her husband, James, of Sligo, Ruth DeVore and her husband, Robert, of East Brady, Shelia Adams and her husband, Ernest, of Rimersburg and Diana Buzard of Sligo; and four sons, Harvey Adams Jr. and his wife, Brenda, of Karns City, Samuel Adams and his wife, Dee, of Butler, Theodore Adams and his wife, Barbara, of Knox and Kenneth Adams of Rimersburg.
She also is survived by 41 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Harvey E. Adams Sr., Charles “Huck” Anthony Sr. and Alan R. Bowers; two daughters, Kathy Pipkins and Ruby Adams; one son, Charles Anthony Jr.; three brothers; and five sisters.
BOWERS — Friends of Dorothy P. Bowers, who died Thursday, May 24, 2012, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Charles B. Buechele Funeral Home, 105 4th St., East Brady.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Pastor Nancy Flick Dunmire of the St. Mark’s United Church of Christ will officiate. Burial will be private in Butler County Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, Dorothy’s family suggests contributions be made to the St. Mark’s United Church of Christ Church, P.O. Box 637, Knox, PA 16232.
