Duane Thomas Jones Sr.
Duane Thomas Jones Sr., 75, of Renfrew passed away Sunday evening in Good Samaritan Hospice, Cabot.
He was born Aug. 3, 1936, in West Mifflin, and was the son of Charles and Sarah Bryce Jones Sr.
He was a member of the Good Shepherd Church in Tionesta.
Mr. Jones retired as a forklift operator from Vesuvius. His second retirement came from the Durham Bus Co., where he enjoyed driving a school bus for different school districts.
Duane enjoyed hunting, fishing and bowling leagues at Meridian Lanes. He belonged to the Franklin Moose, the Fryburg Sportsman Club, the Clarion Rod and Gun Club and the Portersville Steam Engine Association.
He was a proud member of the Connoquenessing and Prospect-Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Department where he served as a fire police officer. He was also a Pennsylvania State Constable, and he served as a dog warden for Butler County.
He is survived by his wife, Ethel Pryor Jones, who he married March 16, 1955; his children, Diane (Graham) Miller of Ohio, Evelyn (Garry) Cumberland of Butler, Karen Pittman of Butler, Richard Jones of Renfrew, Boyce (Jackie) Jones of St. Petersburg, Pa., and Paul (Helen) Jones of Renfrew; 23 grandchildren; 33 great -grandchildren; siblings, Charles (Bonnie) Jones Jr. of Florida, Allen (Sharon) Jones of Zelienople and Lois (Arthur) Knauf of Lisbon, N.Y.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Jones Sr.; just recently by his mother, Sarah Jones Ketterer; one son, Duane T. Jones Jr.; one grandson; and two great-grandchildren.
JONES — Visitation for Duane Thomas Jones Sr., who died Sunday, May 27, 2012, will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Edward L. Raisley Funeral Home, 387 Main St., Prospect. The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. David Coul, his church pastor, officiating.
