Robert Criley

Robert J. Criley Jr., 64, of Butler passed away at 3 a.m. Sunday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.

He was born Feb. 18, 1948, in Worthington, to the late Robert James Criley Sr. and Violet Grace Black Criley.

Mr. Criley was a 1966 graduate of Butler High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving during the Vietnam War as a sergeant based in Nha Trang Air Force Base in Vietnam. He worked in the paint shop at Pullman Standard until 1978, and then he was the assistant foreman at the T. W. Phillips Gas & Oil Co. in Butler until his retirement in 2011.

Mr. Criley was a member of the Victory Lodge No. 694 F&AM, the Syria Shrine, the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, New Castle, the Consistory Legion of Honor, Valley of New Castle, the Butler VFW Post 249, American Legion Post 778 in Lyndora and the Butler City Hunting and Fishing Club. Mr. Criley was a member of the North Street Christian Church. He enjoyed riding his Harley, hunting, traveling and spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Mr. Criley Jr. is survived by his wife, Denise M. (Boarts) Criley, who he married Aug. 18, 1973; two daughters, Amanda Beth Gettinger and her husband, William, and Melissa Aline Cornibe and her husband, Benjamin, both of Butler; four grandchildren, Andrew Robert Gettinger, Evan James Gettinger, Brynn Violet Cornibe and Cohen Henry Cornibe; one brother, Ronald Lee Criley and his wife, Clara, of Fenelton; two nieces, Bethany Jean Boarts and Sara Criley; and one nephew, Garrett David Boarts.

CRILEY — Friends of Robert J. Criley Jr., who passed away Sunday, June 10, 2012, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the North Street Christian Church, 226 W. North St., Butler, with Pastor Robert Huber officiating.The burial will be in the Lawn Haven Memorial Park, Worthington.Officers and members of the Victory Lodge 694 F&AM will conduct Masonic Services at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Officers and members of the American Legion Post 778 Lyndora and the VFW Post 249 will conduct graveside military services.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the VNA Inpatient Hospice, 115 Technology Drive, Butler, PA 16001, or to the North Street Christian Church, 226 W.
