LONDON — Roger Federer has surpassed Pete Sampras to set the record for the most weeks at No. 1 in the ATP rankings.After winning Wimbledon a week ago, Federer returned to the top for the first time since June 2010, and his 287th week at No. 1 — one more than Sampras.

ATLANTA — The Atlanta Braves acquired shortstop Paul Janish in a trade with the Cincinnati Reds on Saturday, and manager Fredi Gonzalez said he will be in the lineup when veteran pitcher Ben Sheets makes his first start of the season Sunday against the New York Mets.Atlanta sent minor league right-hander Todd Redmond to Cincinnati for Janish, who has a .981 fielding percentage in 283 career games at shortstop.

CINCINNATI — The Reds aren't sure whether right-hander Johnny Cueto will be able to start as planned on Tuesday because of a blister on the index finger of his pitching hand.The first-place Reds aren't used to worrying about a starter. Cincinnati has used only five different starters, the first time in modern franchise history that it's gone this deep into the season with its rotation intact.
