Lawrence J. Wetzell
Lawrence J. “Tub” Wetzell, 74, of Chicora, formerly of Brookville, died Friday morning at the Oakland VA Hospital, Pittsburgh.
Born Sept. 29, 1937, in Brookville, he was a son of the late Guy and Dorothy Wetzell.
He was retired from the railroad, was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and loved to shoot pool.
A veteran, he served with the U.S. Air Force.
Surviving are his wife, Darlene E. (Edwards) Wetzell, who he married June 2, 1993; three stepchildren, Lueann Edwards, Mary (Carl) Ekas and Richard Edwards, all of Chicora; eight step-grandchildren and nine step-great-grandchildren, including Brayden Edwards, who lived with him; one sister, Barb (Dean) Weaver of New York; and five sisters-in-law, Phyllis Mechling of Chicora, Sara (Harold) Powell of Euclid, Ohio, Glenda (Ken) Yurga of Eau Claire, Linda Bergbigler of Chicora and Monica (Ron) Claypool of Butler.
He was preceded in death by his step-grandson, Christopher Edwards, who he raised.
WETZELL — Friends of Lawrence J. “Tub” Wetzell, who died Friday, June 15, 2012, will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday.Cremation services are provided by the funeral home.
