Police investigate report of stolen Rottweiler pup
Butler police are on the lookout for a purloined pup reportedly stolen last week from an American Avenue home.
Brittany Shrimplin said her 3-month-old Rottweiler “Roxy” was snatched as she slept Wednesday night. She last saw the dog that night around 7:30.
“It was in the back yard, chained up in an enclosure,” Shrimplin said Monday.
She suspects the pup was taken as she and her fiance slept. The dog was missing when the couple awoke Thursday morning.
“The chain was wrapped around the deck support railing,” Shrimplin said.
While the dog was gone, next to its enclosure was a bright green shirt possibly left behind by the unknown thief.
Neighbors told Shrimplin that they saw a heavy-set white woman wearing a bright green shirt walking near the owner’s home Wednesday night, said police Capt. David Dalcamo.
Shrimplin said she’s had Roxy for only two months. She claimed she paid a local breeder hundreds of dollars for the puppy.
She said she had planned Monday to have it registered with the American Kennel Club and to have it implanted with an identification microchip.
The puppy is described as black with a bald spot on the left side of the chin and neck area and a bald spot on its right paw.
Dalcamo said police have no suspects in the case.
Anyone with information about the dog’s whereabouts is asked to call police at 724-287-7743.
