The first game of the Palomino Baseball Super Regional, between Cranberry Township and the Allegheny Hustlers, was suspended in the third inning at Highfield Park Thursday due to heavy rain.

The action will resume today at 12:30 p.m. Allegheny is ahead 4-1 and is batting in the top of the third inning with one out.

The game's winner will face Lyndora at 3 p.m.

Legion title game postponed by rain

The Butler County legion baseball championship game between East Butler and Saxonburg will be played at 3 p.m. Saturday at Laura Doerr Park.

The game was scheduled for Thursday evening, but was postponed due to heavy rain in the afternoon.

MARS — Bill Maurhoof of Valencia and Jack Arnold of Middlesex Township won the annual Jim Ferris Midseason Horseshoe Tournament held recently at the Mars VFW.The Mars VFW League has 28 horseshoe pitchers who convene every Wednesday night from May through early September.Ferris was an avid horsehoe pitcher and member of the VFW. He died last year.
