Helen Mae Singer Austin, 95, of Zelienople passed away peacefully into eternity with her family by her side on Saturday, June 9, 2012, at Passavant Retirement Community and under the care of Catholic Hospice.

Born March 31, 1917, in Stroudsburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Howard and Jennie Nancy (Mikels) Singer.

Helen was a proud graduate of the University of Pennsylvania Registered Nurses Program, served as a nurse for the Red Cross during World War II and retired as the director of nursing at Riverside Hospital in Wilmington, Del., where she had been a nurse.

Helen's family would like to thank the staff members of the Catholic Hospice and Passavant Retirement Community for taking such wonderful care of her.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter, Lynn Oberg and her husband, Brad, of Cranberry Township; her loving grandchildren, Jenifer Kristen Oberg of Pittsburgh, Amanda Kathryn Stadler and her husband, Josh, of Williamsport and Carlos Quesada and his wife, Shannon (Allen), of Pittsburgh; her close cousin, Joan Conger and her husband, Bill, of Phoenix, Ariz.; and her niece, Marilyn Ritchie of Fairless Hills, Pa.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Seward H. Austin, who passed away in 1999; and her brother, Carl Singer.

AUSTIN — A celebration of life memorial service for Helen Mae Singer Austin, who passed away Saturday, June 9, 2012, will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 14, 2012, at the Perry Highway Lutheran Church, 11403 Perry Highway, Wexford, with the Rev. Dennis Ferguson officiating.In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her honor to Passavant Retirement Community, Patient Benevolent Care Fund, 401 S. Main St., Zelienople, PA 16063, or Catholic Hospice Inc., 6200 Brooktree Road, Suite 220, Wexford, PA 15090.Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Boylan Funeral Home, 324 E.
