Richard A. Clowes, 85, of Sugarcreek Township passed away at 12:50 a.m. Friday while in the company of family members at Sugar Creek Rest in Sugarcreek Township.

Richard was born in Sarver on Aug. 12, 1926, the son of the late Delvis (Barnes) and William A. Clowes.

He was a member of the Hannahstown Road Baptist Church in Cabot.

Richard was a scaleman for U.S. Steel in Saxonburg for 25 years, retiring in 1982. He was a 50-year member of the Armstrong F&AM 239 in Freeport and also a member of the Syria Shriners.

He is survived by his wife, Lois Mae (Wilkewitz) Clowes; his son, William (Luann) Clowes of Franklin; two daughters, Carole A. Schoentag of Saxonburg and her fiancé, William Farmer, and Judith (Kenneth) Bollinger of Washington; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and his sister, S. Eleanor Bowser of Oil City.

Richard was preceded in death by his first wife, Edith Ishman; one granddaughter, Janice Radke; one sister, A. Evonne Christie; and two brothers, Robert and William “Art” Clowes.

CLOWES — Family and friends of Richard A. Clowes, who died Friday, June 22, 2012, will be received Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Redmond Funeral Home, 524 High St., Freeport.Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Monday with the Rev.
