Meadowcroft Rockshelter and Historic Village, 401 Meadowcroft Road, Avella, features a 16,000-year-old rock overhang used by the region's earliest inhabitants for shelter, plus the Historic Village recreates an upper Ohio Valley village from the mid-19th century. Hours are noon to 5 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays and 1 to 5 p.m. Sundays. Admission is $10 for adults, $9 for senior citizens, $5 for children ages 6 to 17, and free for children under 6. Carnegie Science Center, North Side, continues to present acoustic musical performances in association with the exhibit “Guitar: The Instrument That Rocked the World.” Performing from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday will be guitarist Joe Negri. “Tech Tours” of the USS Requin submarine will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. Sunday, and Aug. 12 and 26; call 412-237-1637.
