Paul D. McCandless of Shaler Township died suddenly Thursday. He formerly was of Mars.

He was the beloved and cherished husband for 35 years of Veronica (Lucas) McCandless; the devoted and cherished father to Ryan P. (Jolene) McCandless and Jason D. (Nicole) McCandless; the proud “Pappy” of Greg Rawson, Morgan, Connor, Carson and Aiden McCandless; the loving son of Gerald “Pete” and the late Marilyn McCandless; and the dear brother to Paula (Dave) Condon and Robin (Brian) Kennedy, all of Mars. He was the loving son-in-law of Joseph and Orpha Lucas of Shaler; the brother-in-law of Peggy Mitcheltree, Betty and Glenn Schultz, Janet and Dave Weimer, and Richard and Susan Lucas. He also is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Paul was a union glazier, in Local 751 Painters and Allied Trade. He was employed most of his life for H.B. Reynolds Glass and Architectural Metals.

He was an avid outdoorsman and loved spending weekends at his camp with his family.

MCCANDLESS — Friends of Paul D. McCandless, who died Thursday, June 28, 2012, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Bock Funeral Home, 1500 Mt. Royal Blvd., Glenshaw, where funeral services will be at 8 p.m. Monday.In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association or to the Old Union Presbyterian Church, 200 Old Union Road, Mars, PA 16046.
