Nature art awards given

A large crowd enjoyed artwork and refreshments Friday for the opening night of the Nature & Wildlife Exhibit at The Art Center, 344 S. Main St.

Best of Show and $500 was captured by Margaret Williams McGowan for the painting “Turtlenecks.”

Other winners included:

Painting

• Kathleen Huff Bischak, first place, for “View from Grace’s”

• Mark Anderson, second place, for “Whitetails in Winter”

• Cassandra Crocker, third place, for “Last Few Days of Fall”

• Tom Sheehan, honorable mention, for “The Visitor”

• Mary Alice Carmody-Diana, honorable mention, for “Birthday Flowers.”

Sculpture

• Heidi McClure, first place, for “A Woodland Path”

• John Antonucci, second place, for “Molting Dove.”

Photography

• Aryl Bashline, first place, for “Surreal Reflections”

• Claire “Vimala” Anderson, second place, for “Tang Fish.”

The exhibit continues through Sept. 1. The Art Center’s regular hours are noon to 6 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays. Admission is free. Call 724-283-6922.

The Art Center will be the site of a USO Dance Party from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday during the Jeep Invasion Cruise. Admission to the dance is $5.
