Richard 'Punk' A. Anderson
Richard “Punk” A. Anderson, 80, of Butler passed away unexpectedly on Sunday while tending his precious garden.
He was born April 10, 1932, in Butler, to the late Richard E. Anderson and Blanche E. (Fair) Anderson.
Mr. Anderson was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Germany during the Korean War. Punk worked as a coal miner at Peggs Run Coal Co. until his retirement in 1980. He was a member of the American Legion, West Sunbury. Punk enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening, playing cards and hosting weekly poker games for his friends.
Punk is survived by his wife, Martha “Ann” (Hall) Anderson, who he married July 31, 1965; four children, Jackie Vaughn and her husband, Jay, of Phoenix, Ariz., Leslie Miller and her husband, Glenn, of Butler, Tim Anderson and his wife, Gemma, of Tacoma, Wash., and Rick Anderson of Slippery Rock; one granddaughter, Julia Vaughn; one grandson, Timmy Anderson; five sisters, Virginia Hockenberry of Grove City and Annabelle Hoover, Joan Cumberland, Patricia Ifft and Scherri Grazier, all of Butler; and a number of nieces and nephews. He also is survived by his grandbeagles, Bailey and Juneau.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Marjorie Held and his granddaughter, Jayme Ann Vaughn, who passed away in November 1997.
