Thressa E. Smith, 97, of Newville, Pa., passed away at 9:27 p.m. Tuesday, July 10, 2012, at the Green Ridge Village Center, Newville. The family formerly lived in Butler, R.D. 2.

She was born June 29, 1915, in Butler, to the late Christopher Rohe and Pauline (Maykuth) Rohe.

Mrs. Smith worked in retail sales in Butler at the Singer Sewing Machine Center and at Lowals. She was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Carlisle, Pa.

Mrs. Smith is survived by two sons, Eugene A. Smith Jr. of Florida and James W. Smith of Dillsburg, Pa.; two grandchildren, Mark Smith and Tricia A. (Smith) Melnichak; and two great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Smith and Peter Smith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene A. Smith Sr., who she married May 10, 1940, and who passed away Oct. 6, 1986; five brothers; and five sisters.

SMITH — There will be no public visitation for Thressa E. Smith, who passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2012.

A graveside service will be at Butler County Memorial Park at 11 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Father Harry R. Bielewicz of the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church officiating.

Arrangements are being handled by the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.

Interment will be in the Butler County Memorial Park.
