Mary Jane Bitter
Mary Jane Bitter, 93, of Butler died Sunday afternoon at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born Sept. 18, 1918, in Butler, she was a daughter of the late John and Eliza (Patterson) Daller.
She graduated as an L.P.N., had worked at the Kalamazoo Stove and Furnace Co. in Butler, and had lived in California, and while there, worked at the Krispy Kracker Co. After returning to Butler, she worked as a secretary for the McCall's Real Estate Co. and also in the outpatient office for the Butler Memorial Hospital for several years.
Mary Jane was a member of the St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Butler, loved to travel throughout the world, and had taken yearly trips to Disney World.
Surviving are her two sons, Rick (Carole) Bitter and Greg (Michelle) Bitter, all of Butler; two daughters, Rebecca Bitter of Butler and Amy B. (Dutch) Lumley of Paragould, Ark.; three grandchildren, Jennie McKain, Trevor Bitter and Erick Bitter; one brother, Richard Daller of Butler; and four sisters, Vivian Miller, Betty Lou Turner and Janet Warner, all of Butler, and Sandra Walton of New Jersey.
She was preceded in death by her husband, F. James “Jim” Bitter, who she married Sept. 19, 1942, and who died Feb 9, 1994; and one brother.
BITTER — Friends of Mary Jane Bitter, who died Sunday, July 22, 2012, will be received at Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 127 Franklin St., Butler. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum at Calvary Cemetery, Butler.The Women's Council of St. Peter will meet at 9:35 a.m. Wednesday at the church to recite the rosary.Information also is available at www.geibelfuneralhome.com.
