Olive J. Leri
Olive J. Leri, 90, of Buffalo Township passed away surrounded by her family on Wednesday at Alle-Kiski Medical Center in Natrona Heights.
Olive was born in Freeport on Jan. 16, 1922. She was the daughter of the late Mazie (Green) and John Livengood.
She was a 1939 graduate of Freeport High School and also graduated from Duffs Business School in New Kensington. She worked for a number of years in the offices at Allegheny Ludlum Steel in West Leechburg before starting her family.
Olive was a wonderful mother and a great homemaker. She was a lifetime member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Freeport. Olive loved the game of golf and she and her husband traveled all over the United States playing the game. She was a member of the Women’s Golf Association of Western Pennsylvania and was a past club champion at Hill Crest Country Club in Lower Burrell. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards and watching the Steelers and Penguins, but her greatest joy was her family.
She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Henry L. Leri; their four children and their spouses, daughter, Donna J. Myers of Louisville, Ky., John L. and Delene Leri of Erie, Jeffrey L. and Jeanne Leri of Allison Park and James G. Leri and his fianceé, Andrea, of Freeport. She also is survived by her five grandchildren, Robin A. (Tim) Mann, Michael J. (Lisa) Myers, Dawn M. (David) Haines, Thomas Henry (Yeenee) Leri and Jacob Henry Leri; four great grandchildren, Brittany B. Mann, Trevor F. Mann, Mackenzie L. Haines and Colin C. Haines; sister, Betty Wagner of Cranberry Township; and many nieces and nephews.
Olive was preceded in death by her parents, her three sisters and three brothers.
LERI — Family and friends of Olive J. Leri, who passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2012, will be received from noon to 2 and 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Redmond Funeral Home, 524 High St., Freeport. Viewing will continue on Monday from 10 to 11 a.m. in the Trinity Lutheran Church, Freeport.The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday with the Rev. James Higgins officiating.
