Irene E. Cumberland
Irene E. Cumberland, 93, of Karns City passed away at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Butler VNA Inpatient Hospice.
She was born Sept. 25, 1918, in Butler County. She was the daughter of the late Grover Stoughton and the late Mae Wiles Stoughton.
She was the oldest member of the Concord Presbyterian Church. In her early years, she was employed at the Spaide Shirt Factory and the Bantam Co. She enjoyed baking and doing crafts.
She is survived by six daughters, Marie (Kenneth) Stroup of Chicora, Wanda Stroup of Karns City, Joyce Campbell of Hooker, Ruby (Terry) Deal of Fairview, Delores Kihn of Hooker and Dorothy (Raymond) Webb of West Sunbury; three sons, Dale (Elma) Cumberland of North Washington, Robert Cumberland of Chicora and Richard (Betty) Cumberland of Butler; 31 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; and eighteen great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are one sister, Grace Libecco of Bruin and one brother, Leonard Stoughton of Leeper.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence A. Cumberland, who died March 13, 1996, one sister, two brothers, two grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
CUMBERLAND — Friends of Irene E. Cumberland, who passed away Saturday, July 28, 2012, will be received at the William F. Young Funeral Home, 132 Main St., West Sunbury from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Visitation will also be at the Concord Presbyterian Church from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Kevin Channel, her pastor, officiating.Burial will be in the Concord Cemetery.In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the Concord Presbyterian Church or the Butler Inpatient VNA Hospice.
