Matthew Strobel

Matthew J. Strobel, 47, of McGinley Road, Chicora, passed away at his home at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday following a courageous battle with cancer.

Matthew was born in Butler, April 21, 1965. He was the son of the late Paul A. Sr. and Genevieve Massart Strobel.

Matthew was employed for more than 20 years with Friedman's Supermarkets and also was employed by the Hindman Moving Co. in Butler.

He was a 1984 graduate of Butler High School. He was an avid fisherman and was affectionately known as “Mr. Trout.” He enjoyed hunting and the company of friends and family, especially his daughters.

He is survived by his longtime companion, Tammy Lynn Dehus of Chicora; two daughters, Leeza R. Strobel and Tara A. Strobel, both of Butler; five siblings, Paul A. Strobel of Lyndora, Sandra Strobel of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Barbara Haglestein and her husband, John, of Delaware, Denny Strobel and his wife, Ruth, of Crestview, Fla., and Pamela Kradel of East Butler; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Seth A. Strobel, who died Aug. 17, 1992; a brother, David Joseph Strobel; and two sisters, Linda Rome and Diane DeAngelo.
