John J. Young

John J. Young, 57, of Freedom passed away on Wednesday after a fight with cancer.

John was born in Butler, grew up in Chicora and graduated from Karns City High School. He lived in San Antonio, Texas, for several years following his service in the U.S. Air Force. Then he returned to Pennsylvania.

John was preceded in death by his only son, John J. Young Jr.; his father, Walter A. Young; and his brother, Edward C. Young.

Surviving are his wife, Debora Young; his mother, Carol (McCollough) Young; his maternal grandmother, Elsie McCollough; his brothers and sisters, Robert (Pearl) Young, Barbara (Dave) Markwell, Sharon (Roy) Westburg, David (Maureen) Young, Kay (Randy) Templeton, Walter (Denise) Young, Keith (Shirley) Young, Deanna (Ron) Voreh and Denise (Dave) Bull; and his sister-in-law, Becky (Edward) Young. He also is survived by 16 nieces, nine nephews and 19 great-nieces and nephews.

John was a good son, wonderful brother, good husband and great father. He will be sadly missed by all.

YOUNG — John J. Young of Freedom passed away Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2012. According to John's request, there will be no viewing or funeral. His cremains will be sent to Fort Sam Houston to be buried with his son.All family and friends are invited to a wake in John's honor to share memories, celebrate the good times and give each other comfort and support. It will be at 96 Klein Road, Freedom, at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012.Arrangements are entrusted to Kasper-Hahn Funeral & Cremation Services, 724-266-2549.The family requests contributions in his name to West Penn Cancer Institute, 4800 Friendship Ave., Suite 2303 N.
