Maurice R. Blank
Maurice R. Blank, 81, of Barkeyville Road, Pine Township, Grove City, formerly of Harrisville, passed away at 2:30 a.m. Saturday following a one-month illness.
Born on July 9, 1931, in Greensburg, he was raised in the Rosalia Founding Home, Greensburg. Following high school in Greensburg, Maurice worked in research for Jonas Salk at the University of Pittsburgh.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War. Following his military time, he met his future wife, Frances C. Schnelzer and married her on April 27, 1957.
He attended trade school and began working in the printing business. He worked in the industry throughout his life until retirement in 1993.
Maurice was raised as a Catholic and attended the St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Forestville. He enjoyed his family, friends and playing cards. He also was an avid bowler.
Maurice is survived by three daughters, Deborah C. Blank and Donna M. Tasker, both of Mercer, and Ann Marie Forsythe and her husband, Dale, of Emlenton; two sons, Marty D. Blank and his wife, Robin, and Randy K. Blank and his wife, Janice, all of Grove City; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife; one daughter, Frances Blank; two grandchildren, Roger McCamey and Bryan Tasker; one brother, Robert Sanner; and one sister, Georgia.
BLANK — A Mass of Christian burial for Maurice R. Blank, who passed away Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012, will be at the St. Anthony Catholic Church, 232 Boyers Road, Forestville, at 10 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Father Kevin G. Poecking of St. Peter's Parish as celebrant. The interment will follow in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Harrisville, with military honors.The family will receive friends in the Cunningham Funeral Home, 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City, from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.
