John A. Bopp Sr.

John Bopp

John A. Bopp Sr., 85, of Butler went to be alongside his loving wife on Wednesday at Good Samaritan Hospice at Concordia.

Born in Butler July 31, 1927, he was the son of the late John A. and Emily Valentine Bopp.

He was employed at Marmon Keystone for 45 years as a truck driver.

A proud veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy.

John was a member of the Saint Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church and the French and Belgium Club.

He is survived by his nine children, four sons, Charles Bopp and his wife, Betty, of Butler, John A. Bopp Jr. and his wife, Sharon, of Butler, Raymond “Jasper” Bopp of Butler and Paul A. Bopp and his wife, Connie, of Butler; and five daughters, Sarah “Kathy” Campbell and her husband, James, of Chicora, Barbara Yadesky and her husband, Joseph, of Butler, Lucy Niggel of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, Grace Merrill of Florida and Tammy Desmond and her husband, Edward, of Butler.

He also is survived by 20 grandchildren, John, Jeff, Scott, Tanya, Adam, Katie, Shawna, Justin, Nathan, Colleen, Leah, Paula, Stacy, Darius, Kendra, Chelsea, Corey, Courtney, Lindsey and James; and 23 great-grandchildren.

John is survived by two brothers, Richard Bopp and his wife, Patricia, of Meridian and Regis Bopp and his wife, Donna, of Butler; and two sisters, Patricia Burns and her husband, William, of Butler and Carolyn Malinak of Butler.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Grace V. Brothers Bopp, who passed away March 24, 2008; two brothers, George Bopp and Joseph Bopp; and two sisters, Mary Louise Cornibe and Dolores Erkman.

BOPP — Funeral arrangements for John A. Bopp Sr., who passed away Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2012, were handled last week by Martin Funeral Home, 429 Center Ave., Butler.Information also is available at www.martinfh.net.
