Lloyd Harbison

Lloyd L. Harbison, 88, of Saxonburg went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday at the Saxony Health Center and with the VNA Hospice.

Born Jan. 18, 1924, in Millerstown, Allegheny County, he was the son of the late Walter and Mary (Elliott) Harbison.

Lloyd was a graduate of Freeport High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, 551st Engineers.

He worked as a mechanic and carpenter. Lloyd went on to become a self-employed contractor, owning Harbison and Smith Building Contractor. He built many homes in the area.

He was a member of the Saxonburg Memorial Presbyterian Church, but attended the Jefferson Center Presbyterian Church. Lloyd enjoyed bowling, casinos, cruises and travel.

Surviving are his loving daughter, Elaine (Dennis) Rickard of Saxonburg; the loves of his life, his grandchildren, Kellie Rickard of San Diego and David Rickard of Saxonburg; brothers, Donald Harbison of Sarver, George Harbison of Saxonburg, and Lee (Judy) Harbison of Cabot; and many nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Jean Ekas Harbison, who passed away June 1982; his second wife, Janet Beckwith Harbison, who passed away June 2006; and one brother, Myles Harbison.

HARBISON — A celebration of life service for Lloyd L. Harbison, who passed away Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2012, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012, at the Jefferson Center Presbyterian Church with the Rev. James Steiner officiating. A luncheon will follow the service.A private interment was held for the immediate family at the Saxonburg Memorial Church Cemetery.Memorial donations may be made to the Jefferson Center Presbyterian Church or to a charity of one's choice.Fox Funeral Home, Saxonburg, is assisting the family with arrangements.Information also is available at www.foxfuneralhomeinc.com.
